This assessment was created for an AP Spanish Language and Culture class. The assessment includes two elements that are necessary to advance to the final stage of our third unit. Students must demonstrate an understanding of cultural products, practices, and perspectives; and how art is used in different cultures to record history. In this assessment, I included questions specific to the content presented in class. Specific questions focus on the music generated during Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship. Other questions address local art, like the murals that characterize Chicano Park in San Diego; and a song written by Los Angeles-based band, La Santa Cecilia. Once students demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the content, we can move on to the final stage where all concepts will be synthesized into a two-minute cultural comparison presentation, as outlined by the AP Spanish Language and Culture curriculum.
