Formative Assessment / Pear Deck
Pedagogy: I created the slides to assess students’ comprehension of cultural products, practices, and perspectives. I want my students to be able to identify the 3Ps in any of the six AP Spanish Language and Culture themes. Therefore, I veered away from the art theme I presented in the screencast and designed the assessment using a different but familiar theme, family traditions.
I started with a video from which they can identify product, practice, and perspective. On the last slide, I returned to our original theme presented in the screencast, art as a form of protest. As I will use this Pear Deck activity in an Advanced Placement course, the task gets a little more complicated because students must explain their answers.
Design: My Pear Deck activity includes four different question tools: website, choice, text, and draw (matching and text box). The number option was not feasible for my content. I decided to maintain the same color scheme and font styles from the screencast as a way to reinforce the content with repetition. The Principles of Multimedia were also on my mind as I designed the slides. Every image has a purpose, and I reduced text to a minimum.
